Such a great combination, this cake. I am always into raspberries and chocolate together - they are like ebony & ivory, like yin & yang, like Spongebob & Patrick. They are almost magnetically attracted to each other. And it is not difficult to see (or taste) why!
Each layer of cake gets brushed with pure, sweet raspberry compote. Pair that together with a chocolate cake made from 76% West African cocoa, and abracadabra!, some kind of CAKE MAGIC takes place! Us pastry chefs love it when this happens, it is one of the reasons that make us get out of bed each morning.
The whole cake gets covered in beautiful, pink raspberry buttercream. No artificial colours or flavours are ever used in our cakes, so all flavours are the real deal.
The deep, decadent chocolate flavor was perfectly complemented by the tartness of the fresh raspberries. There was a good balance of sweet and tangy. The cake was moist and you can taste the quality in every bite. I wholeheartedly recommend giving this cake a try. One slice will leave you craving for more.
The cake was moist and I like the slight sourish taste from the raspberry that makes it not so heavy. The cake comes across as a bit crumbly when it was being cut though.
The cake was greatly flavored with rich raspberry cream and super moist chocolate cake. Just delicious!
