About Espresso Chocolate Cake
The Espresso chocolate cake is definitely an adult cake! Each layer of this dark chocolate cake is brushed (read: soaked) with freshly extracted espresso. Even the buttercream gets the same treatment. Picture this, espresso-spiked buttercream over the espresso-spiked chocolate cake!
Each cake layer also gets a nice spread of chocolate ganache! Do you know that the term “ganache” is used to describe a chocolate filling inside a cake or candy? Legend has it that a young French student poured hot cream onto chunks of pure chocolate by mistake. His chef called him a ganache (meaning moron in old french) but the result turned out to be fantastic, and the ganache became a classic!
This is a perfect birthday cake for that caffeine fiend of a friend of yours! If the party is only getting started and you reckon there’s a loooooong night ahead for the group, this is definitely The party cake to get things moving!
